Steve Fraser

Associate Professor Fraser has a career research focus on integrating Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) in clinical settings to improve health outcomes via exercise in people with chronic disease. He is an AEP and exercise oncology researcher and has conducted a number of randomised controlled trials investigating exercise & nutrition as countermeasures for the adverse effects of treatment in prostate, breast and haematological cancers. He currently holds the position of Discipline Leader: Clinical Exercise in the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences at Deakin University, and is also the Director of Deakin’s Masters of Clinical Exercise Physiology. He has considerable experience in the development and implementation of human clinical intervention trials, with a focus on integrating exercise into usual care for individuals with cancer. He is Co-lead, Exercise and Nutrition for Cancer Research Group, in the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN) at Deakin. In the past five years he has published 32 journal papers (career 65) and has an h-index of 24. A/Prof Fraser serves as a Director on the Exercise and Sport Science Accreditation Board.
