Darshit A Thaker
Dr. Darshit A Thaker is a Senior Staff Specialist, Medical Oncologist at Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital. He has more than 10 years of experience working with Queensland Health as Medical Oncologist and Palliative Medicine Physician. He provides oncology services at North Lakes Cancer Centre (NLCCS) and Caboolture Hospital (CBH) He is an expert in the field of Geriatric Oncology and currently leading the Geriatric Oncology services at NLCCS and CBH. He is a principal investigator of Quality of Life Study for older patients with cancer. He has presented his research papers in national and international conferences.
Dr. Thaker has maintained an active interest in teaching and clinical research and is a member of AGITG, ASCO, ESMO, MOGA, COSA, ANZPM and IAP. In addition, he is an accredited supervisor for advanced trainees of RACP, an examiner for fellowship exams and Senior Lecturer at the University of QLD (UQ). He is on interview panel of UQ medical school and examiner for year 4 OSCE exams.
He is passionate about community service activities. He runs cancer awareness and early detection initiatives in rural parts of India. He received ‘Hind Ratan (Jewel of India)’ award in 2020 as recognition of his efforts to improve cancer outcomes in India.
